United States Commonwealth Fund Survey of the Health of Adolescent Girls and Boys 1996-1997

The Commonwealth Fund 1997 Survey of the Health of Adolescent Girls and Boys was a study on the link between adolescent behaviors and their health, conducted by Louis Harris and Associates, Inc. from December 1996 to June 1997. An in-class interview method was used to collect data from a nationally representative cross-section of schools, on students from grades five through twelve, as well as a sample of 218 high school dropouts. Included in the survey instrument were questions on health care use, diet, abuse, and risk behaviors such as alcohol and tobacco use. In total, 3,586 girls and 3,162 boys were interviewed.
