The questionnaire covered a variety of demographic and socioeconomic topics, as well as questions on disability and tobacco use. Respondents also had the option of completing questionnaires online. This resulted in an online response rate of 34 percent, with the rest being collected through paper forms. The total population of New Zealand was enumerated at 4,242,048, which was a 5.3 percent increase.
