A subsample of adults 18-49 answered special modules and a subsample of these received an examination that measured blood glucose, lipid profiles, blood pressure, height and weight. The provider sample was 1,170 (608 private and mixed and 562 public) and included a subsample of outpatient facilities, clinics, and midwives. 123,917 patients at outpatient, emergency, and hospital facilities were also interviewed.

Fieldwork for the survey was done in 2007, except in the archipelago of San Andrés and Providencia where it was done March-April of 2008.
