Summary

Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1960 Netherlands de jure census collected data through direct and self-enumeration on the subjects of housing, household demographics, employment, and education. Information was gathered through questionnaires for households, economically active males, economically active females, those temporarily in the country, institutional populations, and shipping and house trailer populations. The census day was May 31, 1960. A 1.25% sample of individuals from the census (143,251) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota. Dwellings, vacant units, group quarters, and households are not identified in the sample. Refer to the IPUMS website for guidelines on citing database versions.
