The N-SSATS (formerly the Uniform Facility Data Set) was an annual survey of all known public and private substance abuse treatment facilities in the US. Information was collected on the location, organization, structure, services, and utilization of substance abuse treatment facilities in the United States. The data were used for program administration and policy analysis. Information from the survey is also used to compile and update the National Directory of Drug and Alcohol Abuse Treatment Programs and the on-line Substance Abuse Treatment Services Locator, two widely used resources for referrals to treatment.

"The National Substance Use and Mental Health Services Survey (N-SUMHSS) replaced the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services (N-SSATS) and the National Mental Health Services Survey (N-MHSS) in 2021 by combining questions for substance use and mental health facilities."
