Summary 

The National Study of Food and Child Nutrition (ENANI-2019) was a household-based population survey conducted in 123 municipalities in the 26 states of Brazil, and in the Federal District. 193,212 households were visited, of which 19,540 were eligible and 12,524 were included in the study. Data collection stopped in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The objective of ENANI is to assess breastfeeding and complementary feeding practices, food consumption, anthropometric nutritional status in children and during pregnancy, and micronutrient deficiency (hemoglobin, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E, vitamin B1, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folate, zinc, selenium and ferritin) among Brazilian children under 5 years old, according to country macro-regions, rural and urban areas, age group and sex.
