The South African Air Quality Information System (SAAQIS), an online portal from the Department of Environmental Affairs and the South African Weather Service, administers a database of current and historical data from air quality monitoring networks around the country. Data can be requested for each station in the participating networks, and for each pollutant monitored by the station; these can include particulate matter (PM2.5, PM10), sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone, and more (climatological factors like temperature, rainfall, and humidity are also measured). Years of coverage vary by network and station. Different intervals of measurement – from 10 minute to yearly averages – can be also be specified with a data request.
