Summary
India's National Vector Borne Diseases Control Programme (NVBCP), a directorate within the country's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is an umbrella program for the prevention and control of vector borne diseases such as malaria, lymphatic filariasis, kala-azar (visceral leishmaniasis), dengue, chikunguya, and Japanese encephalitis. Coordinating with regional, state, and district level offices, the NVBCP monitors and gathers data on these diseases through sentinel surveillance efforts and with the help of private health centers.
The NVBCP publishes the the number of reported dengue cases and deaths in each of the country's states and union territories over a multi-year span in a table that it updates at regular intervals.
