This annual report contains statistics on pregnancies, births, and newborns from 1973 to 2012, based on data in the Swedish Medical Birth Register. Specific topics include the age, body mass index and smoking habits of mothers, mode of delivery and use of pain relief, and the birth weights of infants.
The Swedish Medical Birth Register was established in 1973 and the National Quality Register for Assisted Reproduction was created in 2007. The first report in this series, combining data from both registers, was published in 2009.
