South Africa - Agincourt Health and Aging in Africa 2022 Dementia Wave 2 - Harvard Dataverse
General Info
The Health and Aging in Africa: A Longitudinal Study of an INDEPTH Community in South Africa (HAALSI) study is a population-based survey that aims to examine and characterize a population of older men and women in rural South Africa with respect to health, physical and cognitive function, aging, and well-being.
The HAALSI Dementia study collects neuropsychological and functional assessments, informant interviews, and neurological and clinical evaluations on a sub-sample of HAALSI individuals aged 50 and older. All Wave 1 participants were invited to participate in Wave 2 of the Dementia study, with additional participants from Wave 3 of the HAALSI survey. The final sample included 683 participants who completed at least one section (513 longitudinal). 653 participants completed all three components of the study.
