Summary
A special survey of the Sample Registration System, the Special Fertility and Mortality Survey (SFMS) 1998 collected information on village and household sociodemographics, health status and habits of household residents, fertility histories of ever-married women, and household deaths that took place in 1997. The SFMS covered over one million households nationally, with the exception of Jammu, Kashmir, and rural units in Nagaland. Tables present fertility and mortality data by age, sex, region, religion, education level, marital status, and social class.
Some libraries may be able to procure the report for this survey through the interlibrary loan system.
