The National Office of Statistics undertakes every year a comprehensive survey of the civil registration offices concerning four demographic events; births, deaths, stillbirths and divorces. The estimate of the total resident population is based primarily on natural increase (births - deaths).

The report dates from 1989 to 2019, with projections to 2040 and the bulk of the material dates from 2001 to 2019.
