The data were collected to target areas at highest risk of malnutrition by determining the frequency of both acute and chronic malnutrition, and the frequency of underweight children under age 5. The survey also collected information on morbidity and on Infant and Young Child Feeding (IYCF) practices in children 0-23 months. The survey was conducted through questionnaires and anthropometric measurements. Households were selected through a systematic random draw and 19,353 children were surveyed. The Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transition (SMART) methodology was used.
