Summary 

The Costa Rica National Population and Housing Census 2022 collected data on Costa Rica's demographic structure and living conditions. INEC postponed the census from 2020 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 census data collection was planned for June of 2022 but information ended up being collected through September. The summary report states that "the census was able to be carried out, however, the context in which it was developed was extremely complex and, despite the efforts made by INEC, the coverage achieved turned out to be partial. Therefore, it was necessary to implement various methodologies to estimate the country's population and its structure by sex and age; and thus provide the basic demographic information that is required."
