The data were collected through interviews that used separate questionnaires for men and women. Data were gathered from 3,011 women, ages 20-44, and 529 men, consisting of the legal spouses of women ages 20-24 and ages 30-34. The two age ranges were chosen for men in order to capture contraceptive practices at different stages of life. The questionnaires covered the topics of marriage and pregnancy history, current and past contraception use, family planning, and sociodemographic information.
