The WHO STEPS methodology was used as the stroke case ascertainment method. These tables present number of fatal strokes per year, and incidence of ischemic strokes, intracerebral hemorrhage, and subaracchnoid hemorrhage. Numbers are broken down by sex and 5-year age groups, with a population denominator for each age-sex combination. Population data come from the 2001 census in India.
