The assessment consisted of two parts: a desk review of recent cold chain data received from all states and Union Territories, and field visits to vaccine stores and health facilities in ten states. Two Government Medical Supply Depots (GMSD) were also visited. The survey collected information on adequacy of refrigeration equipment, storage capacity, power supply, vaccine supplies, efficiency of vaccine management systems, and staffing support and training. The report includes individual assessments for each state and GMSD. Based on these assessments, recommendations were made for the creation of a National Cold Chain Plan, including specific recommendations for improvements of management and logistics systems, training programs, and expansion and updating of facilities and equipment.
