The purpose of the 71st round of the National Sample Survey was to develop indicators on health and education. The data were collected in rural and urban areas throughout India. Two different schedules were used for this round. They were referred to as the 25.0 Social Consumption: Health survey and the 25.2 Social Consumption: Education survey. The Social Consumption: Health questionnaire contains questions on topics related to health status, health care use, and health expenditures. The Social Consumption: Education questionnaire contains questions related to school enrollment, education expenditures, and level of education completed. The education questionnaire was given to household members ages 5-29 years. The health survey sample size was 333,104 individuals. The education survey sample size was 65,926 households.
