This survey is part of the Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) designed to collect data on risk factors of noncommunicable diseases. In this first phase of the survey, a sample of 5000 households across seven Indian states–Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Tamil Nadu, and Uttarakhand–were selected and asked to provide both household and individual responses. The individual questionnaire used WHO STEP methodology to collect demographic and health information and physical measurements from respondents between the ages of 15-64.
