Summary

The International Clearinghouse for Birth Defects Surveillance and Research (ICBDSR) is a nongovernmental organization. Around 50 organizations submitted data on 39 congenital anomalies for this report. Data range from subnational to multicountry, and not every organization's data are included in every table. Additional geographical areas with no listed contributing organizations may be represented in some tables.

The report includes data on multiple congenital anomalies (MCA) and teratogens; prenatal diagnosis of Down Syndrome (including maternal age and percentage of terminations in participating countries); information on monitoring systems in varying countries; and the number of cases and rates of selected birth defects among live births, stillbirths, and abortions from most participating organizations' data. This selection may change from year to year.

See individual registry records linked through the ICBDSR system record for more granular information on coverage.
