Summary

The 2007 Kenya AIDS Indicator Survey (KAIS) was the first national survey in Kenya to provide comprehensive information on HIV and other sexually transmitted infections.

The survey covered all household members, including all men and women ages 15-64 and all children under age 5.  A total of 17,940 people in 9,691 households were successfully interviewed, and 15,853 individuals provided a blood specimen for testing.

The questionnaires included questions on sociodemographic characteristics, perceived HIV status, awareness of partner HIV status, and utilization of HIV care and treatment.
