The first phase of the survey covered all households in the sample and included a Basic Household Survey, Maternal Care Survey, and a Child Health Survey. A second, multi-round survey was administered to two groups: women reported as ever married and under 50 years of age in the first phase and children under age 6. A sample of 3,740 nationally representative households was chosen. 3,411 households were enumerated for the main survey, including 4,233 women who were identified as eligible for the individual maternal care interview in the second phase; 4,175 of those women were surveyed. A total of 7,687 children under six years of age were enumerated in the household survey and covered in the child health survey.
