The National Survey of Population and Family Health is the fifth of its kind, conducted between November 2010 and March 2011. It samples roughly 16,000 households, for a total of 75,061 individual respondents, and is representative nationally and by area and region.

Two questionnaires form the survey, one administered to households and another administered to women ages 15-49. The household survey covers family members, chronic illnesses, housing characteristics, and anthropometric measurements of children under-5. The individual survey covers sociodemographic details, child mortality, prenatal care, childbirth, postnatal care, breastfeeding, child health, female reproductive health, AIDS and STI awareness and beliefs, contraceptives, and fertility preferences.
