It also assessed the estimated prevalence of severe and chronic malnutrition, and estimated the gross mortality rate of children. The survey used the Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transitions (SMART) methodology to collect data. Data collected included anthropometric measurements, household characteristics, household mortality, and presence of bilateral edema. The sample included a total of 10,603 children under-5 years from 9,880 households.
