Summary 

The Taiwan Tuberculosis Control Report 2008 presents statistics on case notifications, incidence, treatment outcomes of new tuberculosis cases, and the estimated burden for Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matzu. The statistical analysis for Taiwan was based on National Surveillance Network of Communicable Disease data. Tuberculosis cases in the report refer to confirmed cases only to allow a standardized basis for cross-national comparison. Case definitions and surveillance indicators are based on WHO standards.
