United Nations Demographic Yearbook 2009-2010

The Demographic Yearbook is a collection of national demographic statistics, provided by national statistical authorities to the Statistics Division of the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs. The tables in the Demographic Yearbook feature select demographic indicators, including size, distribution and trends in national populations, natality, fetal mortality, infant and maternal mortality, general mortality, nuptiality, and divorce. Data are shown by urban/rural residence, as available.

While population statistics produced by national ministries are not available for all countries, Annex I in the Demographic Yearbook presents population estimates for the period 2001-2010 and Annex II presents the medium variant estimates of crude birth and death rates, infant mortality and total fertility rates, as well as life expectancy at birth over the period 2005-2010. These data were produced by the United Nations Population Division and are published in the World Population Prospects.
