Summary 

The Longitudinal Study of Aging (LSOA) 1984-1990 survey is part of the Longitudinal Studies of Aging (LSOAs) project. The LSOAs project was designed to track two cohorts of men and women ages 70 and over on changes in health status, physical functioning, and health care use over time. The 1984-1990 LSOA is a longitudinal follow up to the 1984 Supplement on Aging (SOA) which served as a baseline for the LSOAs project. The 1984-1990 LSOA includes follow up interviews of a sample of the SOA participants who were age 70 or over at the time of the 1984 SOA, National Death Index matches, Medicare data on health care use, and select variables from the 1984 NHIS core questionnaire, health insurance supplement, and supplement on aging.
