Summary 

The National Health Interview Survey (NHIS) is a primary source of information on the health of the population of the United States. The NHIS is a cross-sectional household interview survey that is fielded continuously throughout the year.

The 2012 NHIS covered a wide variety of topics such as family composition, socio-demographic characteristics, injuries, health care access and utilization, health insurance, income and assets, health conditions, health behaviors, and physical activity.
