Summary

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health 2013 is part of the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) survey series. The NSDUH collected information on individuals in the United States age 12 and over by audio computer assisted self-interview (ACASI), computer assisted personal interview (CAPI) and computer assisted self-interview (CASI). The 2013 NSDUH includes questions on demographics, income, access to and use of health services, behaviors related to alcohol, tobaco, illicit drug use and non-medical use of prescription drugs. The survey also includes questions on mental health symptoms from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM) of Mental Disorders. Additionally, respondents age 12-17 were targeted for specific questions about social influences and attitudes on substance use.
