The WGI included the indicators of violence and accountability, political stability and absence of violence, government effectiveness, regulatory quality, rule of law, and control of corruption. The indicators are an aggregation of data from survey institutions, non-governmental organizations (NGO), international organizations, private firms, and public agencies. The 2015 update included indicators produced for the years 1996-2014.
