In 1968, pilot censuses were conducted in Lusaka, Namwala and Kasama districts. Data collection took place between August 22 and 30, 1969. Two questionnaires were used: a full form questionnaire was used in all urban areas and a 10% sample of rural areas, and a short form quesitonnaire was used for all enumeration. Topics covered included household composition, place of birth, fertility, disabilities, occupations, employment, mortality, and education.
