The National Diet and Nutrition Survey began in 1992. Individual surveys cover separate age groups: children aged 1.5-4.5 years, young people aged 4-18, adults over the age of 65, and adults 18-64. In 2008 the survey was converted to a continuous cross-sectional food consumption survey.
In addition to the primary surveys, several other diet surveys are related to the National Diet and Nutrition Survey: a dietary survey of british adults 1986-1987, the low-income diet survey of 2003-2005, and the diet and nutrition survey of infants and young children in 2011.
