The Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program publishes annual reports detailing topics such as violent crime and property crime offenses, arrests, and law enforcement personnel. Data are collected from over 18,000 participating federal, tribal, state, county, city, and university law enforcement agencies.
The UCR Program was founded in 1929 by the International Association of Chiefs of Police to provide standardized and reliable uniform crime statistics on the national level. Since 1930, the Federal Bureau of Investigations has been responsible with collecting, publishing, and archiving these statistics.
