Côte d'Ivoire Living Standards Measurement Survey 1985-1986

Also known as the Permanent Household Survey (Enquête Permanente Auprès des Ménages), the Côte d'Ivoire Living Standards Survey (CILSS) was the first LSMS Survey to have field tested the methodology and questionnaire developed by LSMS. The survey included three questionnaires: a household questionnaire, a community questionnaire, and a price questionnaire. The 1985-86 survey was the first in a four-wave panel survey that was completed in 1989. The sample size each year was 1,600 households, and for successive waves, half the original households were re-interviewed and the other half of the sample were new households.

Household data for the 1985-86 survey were collected in two rounds. Topics covered by the survey included income, private enterprises, remittances, education, fertility, and agricultural income, assets, and expenditures. The survey covered food consumption for home-grown foods only, but did include a section on food expenditures.
